Resume Right: Results

by Jesaka Long @ a.k.a writer

If you’re packing your resume with verbs, then this next tip may seem a bit obvious: highlight the results of your work. Sure, you managed a project with a significant budget. But what did you do with that money?

By showcasing accomplishments, you can push beyond a job description and get a potential manager to imagine you in action on his or her team.

Before
Developed project plans for training projects

After
Developed project plan for sustainable licensed store District Manager curriculum

Here’s another example:

Before
Created company-wide event planning processes.

After
Created a holistic approach to company conference planning, which included building processes, documentation and community leadership. Promoted to Project Manager as a result.

You don’t have to get a new job or get promoted to demonstrated the results of your work. You can highlight small measurable successes, like increasing sales tickets by six percent or consolidating company newsletters from 10 to four.
